About IRCMS
UNISTEM (formally known as Human Resource Management Institute) is a leading institute in Sri Lanka dedicated to providing education and training in Business and Vocational studies. As part of its commitment to promoting research and innovation in the field of Business and Vocational Studies, UNISTEM is organizing its second research conference. Here is a title for the 2024 02nd International Research Conference on Management Studies hosted by the Research Cell, UNISTEM:
“Shaping the Business Future: Trends and Insights for Tomorrow”
Objectives:
1. To create a collaborative platform among local and international researchers to explore contemporary trends, best practices, and emerging challenges in Business Management and Vocational Studies.
2. To strengthen scholarly networks and professional connections among researchers.
3. To increase the visibility and influence of research within the fields of Business Management and Vocational Studies.
4. To encourage collaboration among institutions and individuals from diverse professional backgrounds.

The conference is open to scholars, researchers, students and practitioners in different fields such as business management, accounting & finance, HRM, tourism, Psychology etc. Participants may be from academia and industry.

Keynote Speaker
Mr. Ravi Jayawardena
Group Chief Executive Officer at Maliban Group, MBA (PIM), B.Sc. (J’Pura), Diploma in Marketing (CIM-UK)
Mr. Ravi Jayawardena currently serves as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Maliban Group of Companies. Before this role, he was the Country Head of Sales at Coca-Cola Sri Lanka, where he led his team to secure several Asian and African “Best Practice Awards.” He was also one of 25 top marketers chosen to develop the marketing blueprint for Coca-Cola South Africa (Port Elizabeth Division). Earlier in his career, Mr. Jayawardena held various senior sales and marketing management roles at Unilever Sri Lanka, overseeing the Home, Personal Care, and Food divisions. He holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, Sri Jayewardenepura, and a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. Additionally, he has been a leading MBA lecturer for the past 15 years, teaching at universities across the UK, Australia, and Asia.
In 2013, Mr. Jayawardena was invited to speak at the prestigious Cambridge University Business & Economic Forum on “Effectiveness in Thematic Advertising.” In recognition of his contributions to business and society, he was awarded the “Platinum Honors” by the Postgraduate Institute of Management Alumni in 2014. The following year, he received the Golden Globe Tigers Leadership Award for Excellence in Marketing and Brand Leadership from CMO Asia in Malaysia. In 2016, he was honored with the “People Leader in Marketing” award by the Institute of Personnel Management, and in 2018, he received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from CMO Asia for his significant contributions to business and society.
Guest Speaker
Mr. Nuwan Gamage
(MBA, MCIM, MSLIM, READING FOR A PHD)
Mr. Nuwan Gamage is a seasoned marketing professional with over two decades of experience in the apparel, cosmetic, and beauty industries, both in Sri Lanka and internationally. He currently serves as Head of Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Sustainability at Arinma Holdings (Pvt) Ltd., a South Asian conglomerate specializing in climate-resilient infrastructure and sustainable business practices. He has also served as Executive Director of Lanka Biofuel Solutions, a sustainable startup with Swiss investments.
Mr. Gamage is the Immediate Past President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), having held various leadership roles including President, Vice President, and Honorary Secretary over a seven-year tenure. He spearheaded initiatives such as the Nation Branding Initiative to reposition Sri Lanka globally for travel, investment, and residency, and he established SLIM Digis, the first Digital Marketing Award in Sri Lanka. He also served as Project Chairman for the 2017 Brand Excellence Award and has contributed as a board member of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, as well as serving on committees for the Export Development Board and the National Enterprise Development Agency.
Mr. Gamage’s expertise spans a wide range of areas, including digital marketing, brand strategy, modern trade sales, international marketing, and product innovation. He is also a visiting lecturer for MBA programs at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the University of Wayamba and a corporate trainer for digital marketing programs with organizations such as USAID, UNIDO, and the Ministry of Industries in Sri Lanka. He holds an MBA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and is a Certified Digital Marketing Professional accredited by the Digital Marketing Institute of Ireland.

Call for Abstract Submission
We are extending an invitation and providing encouragement to potential authors to submit their valuable research findings. We welcome original and previously published results from various types of work, including conceptual, constructive, empirical, experimental, or theoretical, as long as they align with the conference’s theme and tracks.

Every submitted paper will undergo a double-blind peer-review process conducted by a minimum of two reviewers.
For accepted papers, it’s mandatory that they are presented at the conference by one of the authors. Furthermore, each accepted paper must have at least one author who is officially registered for the conference. All registered papers will be featured in the IRCMS 2024 proceedings, which will be published by the UNISTEM.
